Our Story

An icon on the Maas

Since 1990, Restaurant Parkheuvel has been a cornerstone of Dutch gastronomy. Located in a beautiful Art Deco building on Rotterdam’s Maaskade, the restaurant offers a unique combination of architectural beauty and culinary excellence.

The building, designed in the 1930s, breathes the elegance of a bygone era while the restaurant looks forward with modern, seasonal culinary creations.

The Chef

Erik van Loo

Chef Erik van Loo has been at the helm of Parkheuvel for over three decades. His cooking style is based on respect for the ingredient, classical techniques, and a constant pursuit of perfection.

Awarded two Michelin stars and the title “Craftsman of the Year”, Van Loo combines French finesse with Dutch pragmatism. His dishes are an ode to seasons and purity.

Father & Son

Erik van Loo

My son Juliën stands as my right hand and as Kitchen Chef in our kitchen. Juliën represents a young generation of successful chefs who are completely devoted to their work. He constantly wants to develop his skills further. With an eye for the latest trends in gastronomy, he brings classic and modern together.

As a chef, you have to dive into a dish. Every flavor you taste, you incorporate so that it comes out maximally in the dish. With the aim that you have nothing more in you to make it more flavorful than this. Cooking is putting down flavor, with it you give away something of yourself.

In our kitchen, only the best is good enough. To guarantee quality, we have built long-standing relationships with suppliers. They know exactly what we want and what the requirements are, they also know what not to bring. We stand in life the same way, we share the same ideas about taste and quality. Something like this grows, time adds flavor and quality intensifies.
